NetzlofDesign and Model works is releasing Freight Car Labels – ACI Bar Code Decals.
Set includes ACI Bar Codes to complete 20 Freight Cars.
The Automatic Car Identification system was designed in the 1960s to allow identification of freight cars and destination based on the colored bar code. This system was in place starting in 1967 with a FRA mandate for all new cars to have this bar code system. By 1977, reliability of the system caused it to be discontinued.
Decal sets are print on demand, and the following scales are available to purchase from the Listings: G (1:29), G (1:32), O (1:48), S (1:64), HO (1:87), TT (1:120), N (1:160), Z (1:220) and T Scale (1:450).
